This is my favorite brown rice and I use it in multiple ways. There's something so special about brown basmati--it's fragrance smells delicious as I'm making it. This particular ORGANIC brown basmati by Lundberg is especially hearty, full-bodied and chewy--it makes a substantial statement in any dish and the best thing is... it's healthy and SO good for you. I highly recommend it.
I recently tried Lundberg California Brown Basmati Gourmet Rice and it exceeded my expectations. The rice grains were long and had a wonderful aroma when cooked. The texture was perfect, not too soft or sticky. It tasted deliciously nutty and had a slight sweetness to it. I loved knowing that it was organic and non-GMO.
I am a repeat buyer. I trust and like the Lundberg brand. California basmati rice is moister than those from India/Pakistan, so less water is needed when cooking and the texture is more tender. The California one may not be as long as some of the imported version, but I prefer the more tender texture. All brown rice has arsenic, especially in the bran part (so brown rice has more), so it is best alternate ones grains in ones diet. But I have more confidence in this American brand than the imported ones. I find iHerb usually has a better price. Basmati rice is better than others because it is lower glycemic (does not spike blood sugar as much as other types of rice). I am glad iHerb offers this brand.
Nutty, delicious, and cooks up perfectly every time. I like to add some turmeric to the cooking water and once the rice is done I add black pepper. Black pepper activates the beneficial anti-inflammatory properties of the turmeric. The texture of this rice is just right, not too soft nor too al dente.
Our family eats this rice every day, so it's great that we can buy it in bulk. It's not available at our local grocery stores, and it's the only kind we feel comfortable eating, especially since we eat rice every day. We don't want heavy metals building in our bodies, and this is the best rice you can buy.
